Conversion tools overview
Your website already has forms, and most visitors never fill them in. Bread & Butter's conversion tools sit on the website you already have and give those visitors a one-click way to raise a hand, with an account they already use or a verified email address. Your forms keep working exactly as before.

In short: The simplest way to start is Auto-Gate. Switch it on and Bread & Butter decides for you, visit by visit, whether to ask, where and when. It uses two of the tools below: Instant Lead Capture, the "Continue with" widget in the corner of the page, and Content Gate Classic, a pop-up on the pages worth gating with a title written about that page. It asks the visitors most likely to say yes, at the moment they're most likely to say it, and never more than once a visit. It never gates your home page, pricing or the other pages people need open. Everyone who says yes becomes an Engaged Lead with a verified email address and a researched profile. If you'd rather choose for yourself, every tool can also be set up by hand.
Why one click
Long forms are where interest dies. A visitor who would never fill in eight fields will click "Continue with LinkedIn", and their name and verified email address arrive in your CRM, with everything they read before that moment already joined to them. Raising a hand isn't tied to one contact page either: it can happen anywhere on the website, in any browser, with the account the visitor already uses. Need more than a name and an address? Ask afterwards with Custom Fields, once the lead is already captured. Every lead that arrives this way is verified and researched, not one more unchecked address on a list. See The Intelligence Brief.
Auto-Gate: let Bread & Butter choose
Most teams know they should be capturing more of their visitors. Few know which pages to ask on, which tool to use or when to ask, and almost nobody has time to test it. Auto-Gate does all three for you.
Two tools, one decision
- Content Gate Classic, on the pages worth gating. Auto-Gate reads your pages and picks the ones visitors would happily trade an email address for: guides, research, webinars, templates, tools and calculators, and pages that offer files to download, such as floor plans and brochures. For each one it writes a pop-up title about the page's topic, for example "Want more details on the B12 floor plan?". The download itself stays open.
- Instant Lead Capture, everywhere else. Your home page, pricing and the other pages people need open are never gated. On those pages, and anywhere else that isn't gated, Auto-Gate can show the "Continue with" widget in the corner instead. It doesn't cover the page or stop anyone scrolling, and it tucks away as the visitor reads on.
Who it asks, and when
There's no fixed timer and no fixed scroll depth, because every website is different. Auto-Gate learns from your own website which visitors go on to become Engaged Leads, how far into a visit they were and how long they'd spent on the page. When a visitor looks like them, it asks. It uses Focused Score, return visits and how people move through your pages.
It doesn't ask everyone. It holds back a share of visits on purpose, so it can measure how many more leads it brings you than not asking at all.
Rules that always hold
- One ask per visit. If a page could show either tool, the content gate goes first.
- A closed pop-up is respected. Once a visitor closes either one, nothing is shown to them for 24 hours.
- Never again once a visitor has raised a hand.
- Never on a page with its own lead form, such as a contact, quote request or download form. A newsletter box in your footer, or a form that repeats across your whole website, doesn't count.
- The content gate never goes on pages people need open: your home page, pricing, product pages, case studies, support, careers, legal, checkout and thank-you pages. It also leaves alone any page you've gated yourself.
Turning it on
Open Lead Gen Autopilot in Settings and switch on Auto-Gate. You'll also find it on your Get Set Up page. There's no code to add: it runs from the Bread & Butter script you already installed, on any website.
Auto-Gate is set per Account, so if you manage several websites you can turn it on for one and leave it off for another. Reading your pages uses Bread & Butter credits, and you're only charged for the pages it actually reads. See How do Credits work across storage, syncing, and profile enrichment?
Where you see the results
Every lead Auto-Gate brings in is an Engaged Lead like any other, with a verified email address, a researched profile and their full journey. Each one shows which tool they said yes to, Instant Lead Capture or the content gate, and they count in the Leads we found for you report and in the Attribution & Leads report.
Every tool, if you'd rather choose
Each of these can be set up by hand, on its own or alongside Auto-Gate.
Lead capture and forms
- Instant Lead Capture: the "Continue with" widget that docks to the corner of any page. One click with Google, LinkedIn, Apple or Microsoft, or a verified email address, and the visitor is an Engaged Lead in your CRM.
- Form Booster: adds one-click verification on top of the forms you already have, such as HubSpot, Gravity Forms or Contact Form 7. The visitor's name and email address are filled in for them, and the form sends wherever it always has.
- Subscription Booster: a pop-up for newsletter subscribers. Visitors subscribe in one click with an account they already have, and arrive in Mailchimp, Salesforce or your CRM straight away.
- Contact Intelligence: a Contact Us tool that verifies the visitor before the message is sent, so your team sees who they are, their role, their company and their journey before replying.
Content gating
- Content Gate Classic: asks visitors to raise a hand before reading on, while search engines and AI assistants can still read the page. This is the gate Auto-Gate uses.
- Content Gate Preview: shows the start of a page and gates the rest, the way many news websites do. The page stays readable to search engines and AI assistants.
- Content Gate Secure: for your most valuable material, such as reports and white papers. Visitors raise a hand before they can open the page at all.
Engagement and personalization
- Calendar Booster: visitors verify before they book a meeting in Calendly or Google Calendar, so you know who's on the call before it starts.
- Hyper-personalization: puts a returning visitor's verified first name into headlines, buttons or any page content.
- Custom Fields: asks one or two extra questions, such as phone number, company size or industry, right after a visitor raises a hand.
Accounts and privacy
- Account Widget: adds a button to your navigation, so visitors who've already raised a hand are recognised on every visit and can manage their account.
- Members Area: lets people into your app or members-only pages with an account they already use, such as Google, Microsoft or Okta, and can limit access to the email domains you choose.
- Privacy Manager: gives visitors a simple way to ask for their data to be removed from your database, with your own privacy text alongside.
- Cookie Consent: a cookie consent banner for your website.
Which one should I start with?
Start with Auto-Gate. It picks the pages, the tool and the moment for you, and keeps adjusting as your website and your visitors change.
If you'd rather set things up yourself, start with Instant Lead Capture, which brings in the most leads on most websites, and add the Form Booster to the forms you already have.
