Contact Intelligence (No robots!)
Is your contact form a black hole? Messages come in, but you can't tell which are from real buyers and which are spam. And when a website answers with a chatbot, people can tell they're talking to a machine. Contact Intelligence does the opposite: it connects your visitor with a real person on your team, and they get a real reply. Every visitor raises a hand before they send their message, so each one arrives from a real person with a working email address, a researched profile and the journey that brought them to you.

In short: Contact Intelligence is a contact form that puts visitors in touch with a real person, not an AI chatbot. Visitors continue with Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn or an email address, then write their message. Behind the scenes, every message becomes an Engaged Lead: it lands in the Inbound tab of your Nurture dashboard with research on the person and their company and their full journey, it's emailed to the app owner and it syncs to your CRM. Nurture drafts a reply for you, and a person on your team reviews it, changes what they want and sends it. Nothing is sent without a person on your team. Add it as a floating button that docks to the corner of the screen, or as a form inside a page. On WordPress you set it up in the plugin or with a shortcode. On any other website you add it with a short script.
A real person, not a chatbot
Your visitors already have an AI assistant of their own, in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot. They don't need another one on your website. When they reach out, they want a person who knows your business.
Contact Intelligence promises them exactly that, and your team keeps that promise without starting every reply from scratch:
- Your visitor writes to a real person and gets a real reply.
- Your team gets the message with everything already done: who the person is, the company behind them, the pages they read, and a drafted reply ready to review.
- A person always sends it. Nurture drafts the reply. Someone on your team reads it, makes it their own and sends it.
How it works
You can dock Contact Intelligence to a corner of the screen or place it inside a page. When a visitor wants to get in touch, they raise a hand first, with an account they already have or an email address that's checked in real time to confirm a working mailbox. Then they write their message and send it.
Each message becomes an Engaged Lead. It goes to the Inbound tab of your Nurture dashboard, is emailed to the app owner and syncs to your CRM in real time. Bread & Butter has already researched the person and their company, their full journey sits alongside the message, and Nurture has drafted a reply. A person on your team reviews the draft, changes what they want and sends it.
Why use Contact Intelligence
Contact Intelligence is built for businesses where every inbound conversation matters. Instead of a chatbot steering visitors toward self-service, it puts them in touch with a real person on your team, and hands that person everything they need to reply well.
- Real people only. Every message comes with a verified account or an email address checked in real time. No CAPTCHA needed.
- Clean CRM sync. Messages sync to your CRM like a normal form, but spam and fake addresses are filtered out first.
- A researched profile. Bread & Butter researches each person and their company, such as their role and the size of their company, and adds it to the record, often before you've read their message.
- Their whole journey. See every page they looked at before they reached out.
- Drafted replies, sent by a person. Nurture drafts a reply using the same research, so your response is relevant from the first line. Nothing goes out until someone on your team has reviewed it and pressed send.
- Every message is an inbound lead. Each person who gets in touch becomes an Engaged Lead, counted and attributed like any other.
- Team ownership. Messages land in the Inbound tab of your Nurture dashboard, where reps can claim a message and own the follow-up.
- Any page, extra fields. Let people get in touch from any page, not just a Contact page, and ask for a phone number or company name if you need them.
- Filled in for returning visitors. If a visitor has already raised a hand on your website, for example through Instant Lead Capture, the form is filled in for them.
Set up Contact Intelligence on WordPress
These steps add Contact Intelligence as a floating button across the pages you choose. To place the form inside a page instead, see the shortcode section below.
Step 1: Open the settings
In your WordPress admin, click Bread and Butter in the left menu.
Step 2: Choose your pages
In the left menu, expand More Tools and select Contact. Choose the pages or post categories where you want Contact Intelligence to appear. You can pick one page or many.
Step 3: Set the text before visitors raise a hand
Set the text visitors see first. You can also set the Welcome icon URL to replace the default envelope icon with your own image.
Step 4: Set the text after visitors raise a hand
Set the text visitors see once they're ready to write their message. You can also turn on the optional Phone Number and Company Name fields, which appear below the message box.
Step 5: Position the button
Choose which corner of the screen it docks to and how far from the edge it sits.
Step 6: Destination (optional)
If you've set a global destination URL in your app settings and don't want it to apply to these pages, turn on Override Registration Destination URL. If you haven't set one, skip this step.
Step 7: Choose what visitors are asked for (optional)
Your conversion methods are set for the whole website in the web app, but you can override them for Contact Intelligence. For example, you might ask for Email + Password + PIN on premium gated content but allow a plain email address here, so getting in touch stays easy. You can also offer just some of the social logins you've turned on.
Step 8: Save
Click Save. Contact Intelligence is now live.
Place the form inside a page with a shortcode
To put the Contact Intelligence form inside a page or post instead of docking it to the screen, use the shortcode.
- Open the page or post in the WordPress editor.
- Place your cursor where you want the form.
- Click the Toggle block inserter button, search for Shortcode and select that block.
- In the block, enter
[breadbutter-contactus-form] - Optionally, add settings to the shortcode:
show_phone=trueshows the phone number field.show_company_name=trueshows the company name field.localesets your own text. The text settings are listed in the table further down.
- Click Update to save the page.
Here's a shortcode with both extra fields and custom text:
[breadbutter-contactus-form show_phone=true show_company_name=true locale='{"CONTACT_US":{"HEADER":"Connect with a real person","TEXT_1":"Lets get started with your contact information","TEXT_2":"We only receive what is needed to get in touch with you","SUB_HEADER":"%FIRST_NAME%, how can we help?","BUTTON":"Send your message","SUCCESS":"Thanks for reaching out %FIRST_NAME%. We will get back to you as soon as possible"}}']
Set custom rules for a single page
Every Contact Intelligence setting can be changed for an individual page:
- Open the WordPress editor for the page or post.
- Click the Bread and Butter logo at the top right, or click the Options button and select Bread and Butter under Plugins.
- Expand the Contact Intelligence section in the right-hand panel.
- Click Enable, then make your changes.
Not on WordPress? Add Contact Intelligence with a script
On any other website, you add Contact Intelligence with a short script, either as a floating button or as a form inside a page. The Bread & Butter snippet must already be installed (see JavaScript Snippet, or Install Bread & Butter on Webflow). If you already have other Bread & Butter scripts on the page, add this one below them.
Option 1: A floating button
- Open the head code for the page. On Webflow, open Pages in the left menu, hover over the page and click the gear icon, then scroll down to Custom Code. To add it to every page, use the Custom Code section in Site Settings instead.
- Paste this script into the Head Code field, below the Bread & Butter snippet:
<script>
null == window.breadbutterQueue && (window.breadbutterQueue = []), window.injectBreadButter = function (e) { "undefined" != typeof BreadButter && BreadButter.init ? e() : window.breadbutterQueue.push(e) };
injectBreadButter(function () {
BreadButter.ui.contactUs({
continue_with_position: {
bottom: '45px',
right: '20px'
},
show_phone: true,
show_company_name: true,
custom_image_url: 'URL_HERE',
locale: {
"CONTACT_US": {
"ICON_NOTE": "Connect with a real person",
"HEADER": "Connect with a real person",
"TEXT_1": "Let's get started with your contact information",
"TEXT_2": "We only receive what is needed to get in touch with you",
"SUB_HEADER": "%FIRST_NAME%, how can we help?",
"MESSAGE_INPUT": "Let us know how we can help",
"BUTTON": "Send your message",
"SUCCESS": "Thanks for reaching out %FIRST_NAME%. We'll get back to you as soon as possible."
}
}
});
});
</script>
- Change the settings to suit you (see the tables below), then save and publish your site. On Webflow, click Save Changes, then publish.
Option 2: A form inside a page
- Add an empty element where you want the form and give it the ID
bb-contact-us. On Webflow, drag a Div Block from the Add element menu to that spot, select it, click the gear icon in the right pane to open Element Settings, and set the ID tobb-contact-us. You can use a different ID, as long as you change it both on the element and in the script. - Open the page's head code as in Option 1, and paste this script below the Bread & Butter snippet:
<script>
null == window.breadbutterQueue && (window.breadbutterQueue = []), window.injectBreadButter = function (e) { "undefined" != typeof BreadButter && BreadButter.init ? e() : window.breadbutterQueue.push(e) };
injectBreadButter(function () {
BreadButter.ui.contactUsForm('bb-contact-us', {
show_phone: true,
show_company_name: true,
locale: {
"CONTACT_US": {
"HEADER": "Connect with a real person",
"TEXT_1": "Let's get started with your contact information",
"TEXT_2": "We only receive what is needed to get in touch with you",
"SUB_HEADER": "%FIRST_NAME%, how can we help?",
"MESSAGE_INPUT": "Let us know how we can help",
"BUTTON": "Send your message",
"SUCCESS": "Thanks for reaching out %FIRST_NAME%. We'll get back to you as soon as possible."
}
}
});
});
</script>
- Change the settings to suit you, then save and publish your site.
