What types of content gates do you offer, and when should I use them?
We offer three distinct gating styles designed to balance conversion rates, SEO visibility, and content security.
1. Content Gate Classic (The SEO-Friendly Standard)
- Best For: Standard blog posts, guides, and general high-value pages.
- How it works: When a visitor lands on the page, the content is immediately blurred or hidden behind a conversion prompt. However, the gate is "soft" for bots—meaning search engines (like Google) and AI tools can still read and index the full text.
- Why use it: You get the high conversion rate of a hard gate (up to 55%) without sacrificing your SEO ranking.
2. Content Gate Preview (The "New York Times" Model)
- Best For: Long-form articles, opinion pieces, and deep-dive journalism.
- How it works: Visitors can read the first few paragraphs (or a specific percentage) of the article before the gate appears. Like the Classic gate, the remaining content is fully indexed by search engines.
- Why use it: This "teaser" approach hooks the reader first, proving the value of the content before asking for their information. It maximizes both engagement and SEO.
3. Content Gate Secure (The Vault)
- Best For: Ultra-premium assets like Whitepapers, PDFs, eBooks, market forecasts, or proprietary data.
- How it works: This is a "hard" gate. The content is physically protected and cannot be accessed or indexed by search engines. The visitor must verify their identity before they are redirected to the file or page.
- Why use it: Use this when exclusivity and security are more important than SEO traffic—for example, when protecting a downloadable asset that you don't want freely available on Google.
