Content Gate Not Appearing in your tests?

If your content is supposed to be gated but appears visible to you as the Admin of WordPress, check these common causes:

  • Test in Incognito: Bread & Butter is smart—it knows if you are a WordPress Administrator or a previously verified visitor, and it will automatically bypass the gate for you. To see the gate as a new visitor would, open the page in a Private or Incognito window.
  • Clear Your Cache: This is the most common issue. If you use a caching plugin (like WP Rocket) or a CDN (like Cloudflare), your site might be serving an old, "ungated" version of the page. Clear your site and browser caches, then try again.
  • Check Plugin Connection: Go to Bread & Butter > Settings in your WordPress dashboard. If the status does not say Connected, the gate scripts will not load.
  • Verify Gate Assignment: Ensure the gate is actually active for the specific content you are viewing. Check that the gate is saved and applied to that specific Page, Post, or Category.

Still not working? If everything looks correct but the gate still won't load, try disconnecting and reconnecting your account in the Bread & Butter plugin settings. This often resolves underlying script or connection issues.
