Pipedrive

The Bread & Butter +  Pipedrive Integration allows you to automatically add, update, or remove contacts in Pipedrive based on user activity. You can also enable session notes to track when users visit and leave your website, giving your sales team real-time visibility into prospect engagement.

Step 1: Connect Pipedrive

To set up the integration, you need to retrieve your API Key from Pipedrive and enter it into Bread & Butter along with your company URL.

1. Get your API Key & Company URL

    1. Log in to your Pipedrive Account.
    2. Click on your user icon at the top right, then select Personal Preferences.
    3. Select the API tab.

      Copy your personal API Token.

    4. Look at your browser's address bar to find your Organization URL.
      • Example: https://yourcompany.pipedrive.com
      • Note: Copy only the base URL, do not include a trailing slash.

2. Add to Bread & Butter

    1. Log in to your Bread & Butter Dashboard.
    2. Go to Automation > Integrations on the left menu.
    3. Under the Integrations section, click on the Pipedrive logo to create a new integration.
    4. Enter a Name for the integration (optional, the default name will be 'PipeDrive').
    5. Paste the API Key you copied from Pipedrive.
    6. Enter your Organization URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.pipedrive.com ).
    7. Enable Session Notes (Optional - more info on that below):
      • Add note on session open: Adds a note to the contact's Pipedrive timeline when they arrive on your site.
      • Add note on session close: Adds a summary note when they leave.
      • This is highly recommended for tracking user engagement.
    1. Click Save & Close.

Step 2: Set up Rules

Once connected, you need to create a Rule to determine when data is sent to Pipedrive.

  1. Go to Automation > Integrations on the left menu.
  2. Select the Pipedrive Integration you created in Step 1.
  3. Under the Rules section, choose the Filter Conditions that will trigger this rule (e.g., EVENT: Email Verified, LEAD SCORE: 6,7,8,9,10). You can manually refine the filter condition, or pick from the pre-configured filters that were previously saved for your account.
  4. Enter a descriptive Name for the rule (e.g., 'Leads').
  5. Select the Action: Add/Update Person or Remove Person.
  6. Map Fields (Add/Update only):
    • If you selected "Add/Update", you will see options to map Bread & Butter data fields to your Pipedrive fields.
    • Select which Bread & Butter data points (e.g., UTM Source, Referrer, City) should populate specific fields in Pipedrive.
    • See the Field Mapping section for details on available data.
  7. Click Save & Close.

Your integration is now live! When the event occurs, the user will be added to (or updated in) Pipedrive.

Feature: Session Start and End Notes

With Session Notes enabled, Bread & Butter acts as a live activity tracker for your sales team.

  • Session Start: When a user visits your site, Bread & Butter checks if they exist in Pipedrive. If they do, it appends a note indicating they are currently active:

  • Session End: When the user leaves, a summary note is added detailing their visit duration and activity:

These notes appear directly in the Pipedrive contact timeline, helping your team identify highly engaged leads in real-time.

Feature: Pipedrive Field Mapping

You can map detailed analytics data from Bread & Butter directly into Pipedrive fields. This allows you to capture critical marketing data like UTM parameters, location, and device info without manual entry.

Available Data Points:

  • User Info: Email, First Name, Last Name, Profile Image, Company
  • Marketing Data: Referrer, UTM Source/Medium/Campaign/Term/Content
  • Location: City, State/Province, Country, IP Address, ISP
  • Tech: Operating System, Device Type, Browser
  • Activity: Page View URL, Page Title, Event Name/Date

How it works: When creating a Rule, Bread & Butter fetches all available fields from your Pipedrive account (including custom fields). Simply use the dropdown menus to match the Bread & Butter data point on the left to the Pipedrive field on the right.
