Does this work on any Mighty Networks plan? Custom code access on Mighty Networks has changed as their plans have evolved, so the exact requirement is worth confirming in your own account. Does this work with a custom domain, or only a mn.co subdomain? Either. The tracking script is embedded in the page itself, so it works the same way regardless of what domain your Network is published under.

Does this track people who join my community? Yes. Joining a Mighty Network, free or paid, requires creating an account with a name and email, and that happens on your own Mighty Networks domain. Bread & Butter picks that up the same way it picks up any other native form fill.

Can you see who completes a paid membership purchase? Mighty Networks processes paid memberships through a native Stripe integration. We haven't been able to confirm the exact technical checkout flow from Mighty Networks' public documentation, so treat purchase-step visibility as something worth confirming in your own account. Since joining generally requires account creation before or as part of purchasing, you'll typically already know who someone is by the time they reach that step.

What if my main website and my Mighty Network run on separate domains? This is common, for example a main site on one domain with your community hosted on a separate Mighty Networks-branded domain. Bread & Butter doesn't use cookies, it uses a GDPR-compliant identifier stored locally in the visitor's browser. Install the same tracking script on each domain, and Bread & Butter reconciles the activity into one visitor journey, even across different platforms.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Get your tracking script

  • Log into your Bread & Butter Dashboard
  • Go to Settings > App & Domains
  • Add your Mighty Networks subdomain or custom domain
  • Copy the JavaScript tracking snippet provided (it includes your unique App ID)

Step 2: Add the script as a GTM tag

  • In your GTM container, create a new tag and choose Custom HTML
  • Paste the Bread & Butter tracking snippet into the tag
  • Set the trigger to All Pages
  • Save and Submit to publish the container

Step 3: Confirm it's working

  • Open your live Mighty Network in a new browser or incognito window
  • Return to your Bread & Butter Dashboard and confirm visitor data is coming in

Alternative: Manual install via custom code

If you're not using Google Tag Manager, install directly in Mighty Networks instead.

Step 2: Add it to Mighty Networks

  • Log in as Host and go to your Network Settings
  • Look for a custom code or Head Code option under General or Advanced settings
  • Paste the tracking script into that field
  • Save and publish

Step 3: Confirm it's working

Troubleshooting: If you can't locate a custom code field on your account, reach out to Mighty Networks support to confirm what's available on your current plan, this has changed over time. If data isn't showing up after install, double-check that your App ID in the script matches your dashboard, and confirm your live Mighty Networks URL is listed under Settings > Advanced Settings > Website Domains.
