Deploying with Google Tag Manager?
If you already manage your scripts via Google Tag Manager, you can skip the steps below and add your Bread & Butter snippet directly to your GTM container instead. Click here for GTM instructions. Otherwise, follow the steps below to install it manually.
Installation Instructions
Step 1: Locate your Tracking Script
- Log in to your Bread & Butter Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > App & Domains.
- Add the sub domain you want to merge with your primary domain account.
- Locate the JavaScript tracking snippet provided on this page. Your unique App ID is already dynamically included in the code.
- Click to copy the entire snippet.
Step 2: Add Custom Code in BigCommerce
- Log in to your BigCommerce Control Panel.
- Go to Storefront > Script Manager.
- Click Create a Script.
- Name the script "Bread & Butter". Set Location to Head, pages to All pages, category to Essential, and type to Script.
- Paste the tracking script you copied in Step 1 into the Script contents box.
Step 3: Save and Publish
- Click Save to deploy the script.
Step 4: Verify Your Installation
- Open your live BigCommerce website in a new browser tab or incognito window.
- Navigate back to your Bread & Butter Dashboard to verify that your active session is being recorded and your Lead Intelligence Engine is receiving data.
Troubleshooting
- No Data in the Bread & Butter dashboard? Verify that your App ID is correct in the script.
- Domain Check: Ensure your current BigCommerce URL is listed under Settings > Advanced Settings > Website Domains in the Bread & Butter dashboard.
