How do I manage multiple clients using the Accounts section?

The Accounts section is where you manage every website you run Bread & Butter on, from one Bread & Butter user. Each website is its own Account, with its own tracking script, dashboard, plan and team. You move between them in one click, and adding one takes about a minute. It's free to use, and it's built for anyone looking after more than one website: agencies, fractional marketers, and companies with several brands.

In short: One Account per website. To add a different website, open Accounts in the left-hand menu, click Add Account, enter the company name and the website's domain, and install the tracking script on that site. Every Account has its own App ID, dashboard, data, plan, credits and team, and nothing is shared between them. A subdomain of a website you already track, such as a blog or help centre, isn't a new Account: add it to the existing one instead.

Adding a new website

  1. Open Accounts in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Enter the company name and the website's domain, then click Add.
  4. Install Bread & Butter on that website using the new Account's own tracking script. Its Get Set Up page walks you through it.

The new Account has its own App ID from the start. Its 30-day Pro trial and 15-day calibration begin once the tracking script is installed, separately from any other Account you run.

A new domain always needs a new Account. An Account's main domain is fixed once it's set up and tracking, and it can't be moved to a different website. If you're launching a second brand, taking on a client, or running a site on a completely different domain, add it as its own Account.

A subdomain stays in the same Account. If the new property sits under a domain you already track, such as blog.yourcompany.com or help.yourcompany.com, add it to the existing Account so a visitor moving between them keeps one profile and one journey. See How to add tracking code to peripheral subdomains.

Finding your way around

Card or table view. Switch between cards and a table at the top of the page. Each Account shows its company name, website domain, App ID, plan and when it was created.

Search. The search bar finds an Account quickly once the list grows.

View Dashboard. Opens that Account's dashboard directly. Everything you see there, from the Focused Tab to the Attribution Report and the Nurture Action Queue, belongs to that Account alone.

Account details. Open an Account to see its tabs:

  • Overview: company name, status and when it was last active.
  • Usage: profiles and credits used this month against what the plan includes.
  • Subscription: the current plan, the next billing date, and plan changes.
  • Billing: payment method, add-ons and credit balance.
  • Team: who has access to this Account.

Each Account stands on its own

Data. Leads, journeys and reports never cross between Accounts. A lead captured on one website never appears in another Account's dashboard or analytics.

Plan and credits. Each Account has its own plan, priced per website, and its own credits. Upgrading one Account doesn't change any other. See How do Credits work across storage, syncing, and profile enrichment?

Team. Inviting someone gives them access to that one Account only, so a client or a contractor never sees your other websites. You can invite as many people as you like, at no extra cost. See What are the different team roles and what do they have access to?

Payment. Payment for an Account can be managed by a different team member from the one who added it. The Billing tab shows who manages it.

Removing an Account

Deleting an Account permanently deletes everything saved in it, and it can't be undone. If you might need the data again, move the Account to the Free plan instead: it keeps the data and costs nothing.
