Version 8.7 is a massive release that completely overhauls the Bread & Butter onboarding experience, and deploys intelligent AI Agents that automatically map your website's CTAs and conversion events without any manual setup. We have also introduced two powerful new tracking capabilities: Outbound Link Tracking and a native Cookie Consent manager.
Here is everything new, improved, and fixed across the Bread & Butter ecosystem.
Major Feature Highlights
Zero-Touch Setup: Automated CTAs & User Events
Setting up Bread & Butter is now entirely automated. When you connect a new website, our AI Agents will instantly scan your pages, identify key Calls to Action (Utility and Social), and automatically generate your corresponding User Events and page load tracking.
Native Cookie Consent & Outbound Link Tracking
We have launched two major additions to our tracking library:
- Cookie Consent Tool: A beautifully designed, fully native Cookie Consent widget. You can configure the messaging, link your Privacy Policy directly via the WordPress Plugin or Dashboard, and automatically fire a new
cookie_consentsystem event when a user opts in. Click here for more on the Cookie Consent tool. - Exit Destinations: Bread & Butter now tracks when a user leaves your website. If a prospect clicks an outbound link (like a social media profile or external video), we capture it as an
exit_destinationsystem event and clearly display the external URL they clicked directly in their user journey timeline.
Web App
New Features & Enhancements
- Dashboard v2 & Guided Onboarding: We introduced a new "Home > Get Set Up" dashboard. For new accounts, this view cleanly outlines the necessary installation steps. If your workspace is created but not yet receiving data, the Opportunities, Nurture, and Attribution tabs will now clearly display contextual "Not Connected" pro-tips guiding you back to the installation steps.
- Integration v1.5 Onboarding: When visiting the Automation page for the first time, users are greeted with a new "Cloud Integrations" landing page, categorizing our supported CRMs, Marketing platforms, and Webhooks into clickable modules.
- Session Notes Summary: The user journey timeline now elegantly displays AI-generated Session Notes directly in the header, detailing entry sources and key events at a glance while placing older technical data seamlessly into a hover state.
- Resend Team Invitations: Workspace Administrators can now easily re-send platform invitation emails to pending users directly from the Teams page.
- Attribution Percentage Metrics: The "All Time" column on the Attribution Report now calculates and displays the
visitor_percent_of_totalmetric next to your top-level sources. - Mobile-Optimized Wizard: Mobile browser traffic attempting to access the dashboard is now routed to a dedicated wizard where you can easily email installation instructions to your team or book a free Zoom support session.
- Redesigned Trial Expiration Banners: Across the entire application, trial expiration messages have been redesigned into high-visibility "Red State" banners that explicitly explain the behavioral data and user journeys being missed while the AI is resting.
- Active Trial "Momentum" Banners: Active premium trials now display customized "Green State" messages celebrating the Deep Profile Enrichments and lead scoring happening in real-time.
- Clearer ROI Terminology: The Won/Closed Attribution dashboard has been updated to specifically highlight the tracking of true CPM and end-to-end closed-loop cost-per-deal metrics.
UI & UX Improvements
- Settings Page Reorganization: Streamlined the Settings page by introducing a new "App & Domains" primary tab and hiding the legacy Custom Domain Branding tab to reduce clutter. Removed Destination URL and Sign-In Link URL inputs for improved security.
- Nurture Workflow Redesign: Moved the "Generate" button next to "Send Test Message", relabeled it to "Generate New Draft", and removed the Focused tab entirely. The Engaged Leads tab now properly defaults to the "Action Queue" sorting order.
- Intelligent UI Memory: The platform now remembers your local preferences for both the map collapse/expand state on the Dashboard and the "Filter by" sections across all tabs.
- Invite Team UI Refresh: Upgraded the "Invite Team Member" dialog with cleaner dropdowns (defaulting to the Marketer role).
- UI Polish: Changed the user journey line label from "Conversion" to "Engaged", added mobile responsiveness to the page view lines, updated date formatting logic (e.g., "Yesterday", "2 days ago", "Mar 29"), and cleaned up bot traffic views.
Bug Fixes
- Resolved a bug where clicking the "New Data" refresh button on the Focused tab would momentarily load the "All Traffic" list.
- Fixed an issue in the Nurture tab where sending a message would keep that user selected in the UI.
- Addressed an edge case where empty strings in domain data caused AI Company Summary tiles to render entirely blank.
- Fixed an annoyance where navigating to a new module after scrolling down on a previous page would leave the user anchored at the bottom of the new screen.
API & Backend Core
New Features & Enhancements
- AI Insights - Interesting Trends: Completely overhauled the Insights reporting engine. The AI now analyzes your Qualified Leads versus Total Traffic volume and outputs highly specific, bolded diagnostic summaries based on seven different growth scenarios (e.g., "The Conversion Spike", "The Volume Problem").
- Strict Domain-to-App Architecture: To prevent duplicate account creation, a website domain is now strictly hard-tied to a single App. Attempting to register a primary domain already in use will gracefully return a clear error across all frontends.
- Spam & Dead Lead Filtering: Lead stages 9 and 10 (Spam/Dead) are now strictly filtered out of the Engaged Leads and Focused tabs via the
GetUserActivitiesandGetUserInsightscalls. - Editable Profile Data: All AI-discovered fields across User Profiles, Company Profiles, and Admin User Profiles (such as names, roles, industries, and AI summaries) are now fully editable in the Admin UI, allowing for manual correction.
Bug Fixes & Maintenance
- Fixed an issue where upgrading a plan via the Web App successfully updated Stripe but failed to sync the upgraded package limits on the Bread & Butter backend.
WordPress Plugin (WPP)
New Features & Enhancements
- Cookie Consent Tool Integration: Added a dedicated settings page for the new Cookie Consent tool inside the WordPress admin panel, allowing you to quickly enable the banner and customize the messaging directly from WordPress.
- Intelligent Subdomain Merging: For agencies and users setting up multiple sites, the plugin now detects if you have an existing App matching the primary domain. It will prompt you to merge the subdomain into your primary account rather than creating a fragmented, duplicate App.
- Security Default Update: The "Enable Bread & Butter login on WP-admin" setting is now strictly disabled by default for all fresh installations to align with strict security preferences.
Security & Bug Fixes
- Critical Security Patch: Resolved a Medium-severity stored XSS vulnerability related to how our custom event shortcodes handled HTML rendering. Escaping and sanitization have been applied across all shortcode helpers.
- App Naming Sync: Fixed an issue where connecting an existing App to a WordPress site would fail to update the App name to match the new site's title.
JavaScript Library (JSL)
New Features & Enhancements
- Exit Destinations Engine: Implemented
navigator.sendBeaconlogic to reliably track when visitors click outbound, external links, firing the data back to the User Journey even as the page unloads. - Widget Animations: Smoothed out the CSS rendering and entry animations for the Content Gate and Subscribe widgets to feel significantly more premium.
- CDN Updates: Shifted deployment architecture to support
.latestCDN links for easier global snippet updates without requiring version-specific hardcoding.
Bug Fixes
- Investigated and resolved edge cases causing default image icons on the "Contact Us" widget to occasionally fail to load.
- Fixed console errors related to "the operation is insecure" caused by strict browser policies in specific environments.

- Lightspeed eCom Native Support: We have fully validated and documented tracking support for Lightspeed eCom, allowing golf courses and retailers to seamlessly deploy Bread & Butter via Lightspeed's native Google Tag Manager integration.
- Amadeus iHotelier Support: Added enterprise support for Amadeus iHotelier (formerly TravelClick), ensuring complete cross-domain tracking and revenue attribution across global hotel booking engines using GTM.
- Typeform Tracking Integration: Bread & Butter tracking can now be cleanly deployed inside standalone Typeforms using their native Google Tag Manager integration, ensuring no drop-off in user journey tracking for your forms and surveys.
- Golfback Tee Sheet Tracking: Validated cross-domain tracking implementation for Golfback-hosted booking portals, ensuring tee-time revenue is accurately mapped back to top-of-funnel marketing campaigns.
